Joining SWISS Virtual is a straightforward process with three clear steps. We have kept it simple on purpose -- we want you spending your time in the cockpit, not filling out paperwork. Here is what to expect from the moment you decide to apply to the day you log your first flight.

Everything begins with your application. Head to our join page and complete the application form with your personal details, your flight simulation background, and your VATSIM or IVAO account information. The form takes only a few minutes to fill out, and once submitted, it lands with our recruitment team for review.

We review every application personally -- there is no automated filter deciding your fate. A member of our team looks at your background, verifies your network account, and assesses whether you meet our basic requirements. This typically takes between twenty-four and forty-eight hours, though it can sometimes be faster. You will receive an email once your application has been reviewed, letting you know the next steps.

The application itself is not a test. Think of it as an introduction -- a chance for us to learn a little about you and for you to confirm that you have the prerequisites in place. The real assessment comes in the next step.

After your application is approved, you will receive instructions for our entry exam. This is the step that sets SWISS Virtual apart from many other virtual airlines, and it is one we are proud of. The exam covers aircraft systems knowledge, navigation procedures, and standard operating practices -- the fundamentals that every competent pilot should have in their toolkit.

The exam is not designed to trip you up or catch you out. It is designed to confirm that you are ready to fly at the standard our community expects. If you are comfortable with instrument approaches, SIDs and STARs, and basic aircraft systems, you will do fine. We are testing competence, not perfection, and the bar is set at a level that any dedicated flight simmer can reach.

This is how we maintain the professionalism that our community is known for. Every pilot who passes the exam has demonstrated that they take the hobby seriously, and that shared standard creates an environment where everyone can trust that the person on their wing or on their frequency knows what they are doing. It is a small investment of effort that pays dividends in the quality of every flight that follows.

Once you have passed the exam, you are a SWISS Virtual pilot. Your account on our pilot intranet goes live, and from that moment you have full access to everything the community offers: our complete route network based on real SWISS International Air Lines schedules, the full fleet of aircraft with authentic liveries, and our custom-built dispatch and flight logging systems.

Your first flight can happen the same day you are approved. Choose a route from the schedule, fire up our ACARS client alongside your simulator, and fly. The tracker handles the rest -- recording your departure, route, altitude, fuel burn, and landing automatically. When you complete the flight, your PIREP is submitted for review by our operations team, and it joins your permanent logbook. Watching that logbook grow from one entry to dozens to hundreds is one of the quietly addictive pleasures of virtual airline flying.

Beyond the flights themselves, you will want to join our Discord community, where pilots coordinate group flights, share screenshots and stories, ask questions, and generally enjoy the social side of the hobby. It is where friendships form, where flying tips are exchanged, and where the community truly comes alive. Welcome aboard -- we are glad you are here.
